Alex Poulton


Alex Poulton is a Junior Fellow at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London where he teaches singing. He is a qualified music therapist and a member of the British Association of Music Therapists.

He studied music at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire between 1997 and 2005 and was awarded the Joseph Weingarten Scholarship for a year of study at the Liszt Academy in Budapest in 2005. He also studied for 9 months at The Franz Liszt Hochschüle in Weimar in 1999. He qualified in 2023 at the Guildhall School of Music as a music therapist.

Between 2006 and 2021, he worked as a singer touring worldwide with companies such as Opera Holland Park, The Zeist Opera Festival, Columbia Artists, Grange Park Opera, and Longborough Opera. He also has extensive experience in Lied and Oratorio.

In 2008, he established a thriving vocal practice and provided consultations to singers within different choirs and ensembles. He also composes music and frequently performs his own songs in recital. He has produced two of his own operas in the community and recently performed several of his orchestral settings of Schubert’s Winterreise at The Guildhall School of Music.
